The Cordurea Vikings have wrapped up another eventful campaign in PowerPlay Manager, finishing 3rd in the regular season of Season 53. Despite strong performances across the board, the team fell just short of the podium in the playoffs, but the year was filled with both statistical dominance and promising steps toward the future.
Regular Season Performance
The Vikings once again displayed their quality, claiming 3rd place in the regular season and proving to be one of the most consistent forces in the league. Their players dominated individual charts, reinforcing the club’s identity as a team of elite performers.
-
Bjorn Horstschafer had a phenomenal season, topping the scoring charts with 122 goals and leading the league with 260 points.
-
Raimund Wünnemann wasn’t far behind, securing 233 points to finish second overall in the standings.
-
Vitaliy Snetkov was the standout defenseman of the year, leading his category with an impressive 136 points.
-
Servác Lech, the team’s backbone in goal, ranked 4th among league goaltenders with a 95.86% save percentage.
In total, the Vikings had 10 players surpass the 100-point mark, with two of them eclipsing 200 points across league, playoff, and national cup competitions.
Playoff Journey
In the playoffs, the Vikings reached the semifinals, where they faced Sport Klub. Despite a determined effort, they were eliminated, ending their push for the championship. In the bronze medal series against Oinacu Ice Gladiators, the Vikings battled hard but ultimately fell short, losing 1-2 on aggregate.
A Milestone for a Legend
One of the biggest stories of the season was the near-milestone achieved by veteran star winger Alexander Tarasov. With 996 career goals in the regular season, Tarasov is now only 4 goals away from the incredible 1,000-goal mark for the Cordurea Vikings. Few players in the history of the game reach such heights, making this achievement one of the most anticipated in the club’s history.
When asked about the milestone, Tarasov humbly remarked:
“I never played for records. I played for the team, for the fans. But of course, 1,000 goals would be something special. I hope I can do it next season.”
Economic Growth & Arena Expansion
The Vikings had a solid year economically, generating over €295 million in revenue, while spending around €271 million. A significant portion, €137 million, was invested in the arena’s expansion.
This season, the arena had a capacity of 7,000 spectators, and in just two weeks it will grow to 8,000 seats. The club is already planning additional upgrades for the next season, including the addition of fast food outlets and souvenir shops to enhance fan experience and increase revenue streams.
General Manager’s comment:
“We are proud of the financial stability we’re building. The arena is growing, and soon it will be more than just a place to watch hockey – it will be an experience.”
Looking Ahead: Facilities & Youth Development
While arena construction has been a major focus, the Vikings know that long-term success requires investment in people as much as infrastructure. Improving training facilities, recovery areas, and the youth academy are now top priorities.
Coach’s vision for the future:
“We want to build not just a strong team, but a sustainable one. That means giving our young players the tools to develop, recover, and thrive.”
The club has already set a clear direction for its future: building a roster around young Romanian players. The Vikings are particularly excited about participating in the newly announced Romanian U20 Tournament, a youth championship designed exclusively for Romanian players.
Conclusion
Season 53 may not have ended with a medal, but it showcased the Cordurea Vikings’ resilience, star power, and ambition. With record-breaking performances from their veterans, dominant statistics across the board, and exciting infrastructure projects, the Vikings are laying the groundwork for a bright future.
The fans can be certain: whether it’s chasing milestones, expanding the arena, or developing the next generation of Romanian hockey stars, the Cordurea Vikings are here to stay – stronger than ever.
